What is Restaurant Grade Charcoal?

This grade of charcoal is characterised by larger size pieces typically greater than 40mm. These larger chunks of charcoal have a higher density and typically burn hotter and longer than standard charcoal

While restaurant grade charcoal is always more expensive, we at FLINT believe that restaurant grade charcoal should be accessible to all at a price point closer to standard charcoal offerings. Finding this balance between price and quality encapsulates our FLINT restaurant grade charcoal.

WOOD VARIANT

Kameeldoring (Camelthorn) is an ultra-dense hardwood that burns hot, slow, and clean. It produces minimal smoke with a mild, earthy aroma perfect for cooking. Low-spark and long-lasting, it’s ideal for both firepits and braais.
Acacia and Mopane – dense woods that burns for longer. Much denser than oak or hickory and with natural scents and low smoke emissions Mushara (Terminalia prunioides)
Mushara is the local term for this type of wood and is dark, rough and fibrous. Produces excellent quality charcoal very popular in the middle east.
